ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team dropped its fifth contest in a row in an 8-1 loss to No. 12 Sewanee on Saturday at the Anaheim Hills Tennis Club.

Chapman opened the match with a win, taking one of three doubles matches. Senior Andrea Hammer and sophomore Madeline Saunders handed Lindsay Lils and Clementia Davila their first loss of the season 8-5. The win was the pair's third in a row, allowing Hammer and Saunders to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Freshman Nicole Fouts and senior Danielle Simmons fell 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles spot, while senior Annie Sullivan and sophomore Maya Nowak fell 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles spot.

In singles action, Hammer had a strong outing against Chistina Mercant pushing both sets to 7-5 in the No. 1 singles spot. In the No. 2 spot, Saunders retired trailing 4-2.

Sewanee went on to win the next four singles matches against Simmons, Fouts, and Thimanthi Withana. Nowak was the only Panther, other than Hammer, not to be shut out in either set, falling to a 6-1 sweep from Sara Thompson.
