Women's tennis stumbles against Christopher Newport

ORANGE, Calif. –  The Chapman University women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to visiting Christopher Newport on Sunday. Senior Madeline Saunders came up just short in the top singles match.

Saunders won her first set in the No. 1 singles match but then dropped the second set. With the match already decided, the top singles point came down to a super tiebreak. Saunders pushed until the very end but eventually fell 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) as the Captains completed the sweep.

CNU breezed through the doubles portion of the match, winning the three matches 8-0, 8-1 and 8-0. They won the remaining five singles matches in straight sets to get the sweep.

Chapman is back on the Anaheim Tennis Center courts on Sunday to take on Hardin-Simmons.
