Women's tennis drops non-conference match at Concordia

IRVINE, Calif. – Senior Delara Fotovatjah captured the first point of the season but the Chapman University women's tennis team fell 6-1 to NCAA D-II Concordia on Tuesday. Through the first three matches of the season, the Panthers have taken on two teams from Division II and another from Division I.

Fotovatjah battled through two tightly-contested sets to win the first point of the season for Chapman. After two tiebreakers, she pulled away with the 7-6, 7-6 win for Chapman on the No. 6 court.

The Eagles took the other five singles matches in straight sets although freshman Olivia Desso forced an extra set in the No. 4 match but ultimately fell 6-1, 7-5. Concordia swept the doubles matches as well.

Chapman will now prepare for a SCIAC series with Cal Lutheran in April. The first match between the two teams will take place at Lastinger Tennis Center at 11 a.m. on April 3.
