Allyn defeats No. 2 player in nation
ORANGE, Calif — Aliya Allyn knocked down the No. 2 ranked player in NCAA Division III Women's Tennis, 0-6, 6-3, 7-5, today, Sunday, Mar. 20, in Chapman's 8-1 loss to Middlebury.
Allyn battled back from a steep deficit following her first set loss. The junior bounced back winning both sets to take down Sahana Raman, who was dubbed the second best singles player in the nation at the start of the season.
While Allyn's victory was the only one on the day over No. 10 Middlebury, it gives the Panthers momentum heading into their Monday, Mar. 21 match against Colby, and SCIAC play that starts at the beginning of April.
Chapman fell to 5-4 on the season with the loss. Middlebury improved to 3-0
