Women's tennis takes down Cal Lutheran in home finale

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team closed out its home schedule with a 7-2 win over visiting Cal Lutheran on Friday. The Panthers picked up their second SCIAC win in a row.

Chapman took an early advantage with a pair of 8-3 doubles wins. The freshman duo of Goldie La and Alexis Golin took the win at the top of the double lineup. Aliya Allyn and Olivia Desso won in the No. 2 doubles match but the Reglas avoided the doubles sweep with a 8-5 win in the No. 3 match.

Allyn fell in a close three-set match as the Regals grabbed their second point, but the Panthers won the remaining five matches to clinch the team victory. La and Golin won in straight sets as La won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 and Golin won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Lucy Erickson added a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win on the No. 5 court.

Desso won in three sets in the No. 4 match with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 comeback win and Katherine Monroy took the No. 6 match 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

The Panthers finish up the season with a trip to Occidental on Sunday for a 10 a.m. match.
