Women's tennis competes at fall tournament

ORANGE, Calif. – Six members of the Chapman University women's tennis team participated in the ITA Division III West Regional. Goldie La and Aliya Allyn advanced to the semifinals of the doubles consolation to the lead the Panthers in the fall tournament.

After falling in their first match, Allyn and La rattled off an 8-3 and 8-2 win to advance through the consolation bracket. The duo lost to the eventual consolation champions with an 8-3 loss in the semifinals.

Allyn, La and Olivia Desso went 0-2 in their singles match in the top flight of the tournament. In the B Flight, Brooke Waite began her Chapman career with a tight win in the first round. Waite opened up with a 6-2, 7-6 (14-12) win before falling in second round.

Soleil Zsibrita also captured an opening round victory before falling in a second round heartbreaker – 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). In the C Flight, Ava Tyler opened with a 6-1, 6-3 win but fell 6-2, 6-4 in her next match.

The Panthers will be back on the courts for the spring dual season in February.
