Women's tennis defeats Rhodes 6-3

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team defeated visiting Rhodes 6-3 on Thursday. The Panthers improved to 2-2 on the season.

Chapman took an early advantage with two wins in the doubles matches. Lucy Erickson and Goldie La picked up the 8-6 win in the No. 1 match, improving to 2-0 on the season at the top of the doubles lineup. Aliya Allyn and Alexis Golin won 8-3 on court two for the 2-1 advantage going into singles.

Golin and La went on to win their singles matches as well in straight sets. Golin won 7-6, 6-2 and La battled through a close match to a 7-5, 7-6 win. Olivia Desso stayed perfect in singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win and Brooke Waite won 6-2, 6-3 to help clinch the team win.

The Panthers are back on the court today in a rescheduled match against Wheaton (Mass.) at 4 p.m.
