Cahill captures 300th head coaching victory in Whittier

WHITTIER, Calif. – Chapman University's all-time winningest volleyball coach added another milestone to her head coaching career with her 300th career victory on Saturday as the Panthers took down host Whittier College with a three-game sweep. Cahill, who is in her 20th season as head coach - all at Chapman - has an overall record of 300-251 for a .544 winning percentage.

Cahill is a native of Orange and graduate of Chapman where she was an Academic All-America selection in 1985. She has averaged 15-plus wins per season as a head coach and guided the Panthers to the NCAA playoffs seven times.

Chapman (8-6) swept Whittier in three games, 25-17, 25-12, 25-20, for the second time in as many weeks. The Panthers were led by junior OH Erin Leja, who earned a match-high 15 kills. Sophomore S Kat Kowalski had 18 assists and 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.

The Panthers, who played 14 matches in 18 days to start the season, will enjoy four days before their next match against La Sierra University on Thursday, where Cahill will seek win No. 301.
