AVCA names three Panthers to All-America team

ORANGE, Calif. – Three members of Chapman University's playoff-qualifying volleyball team have been selected to the All-America team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Senior OH Ashleigh Gideon headlines the Panthers' honorees, earning second team honors.

Junior S Corrine Ostrovsky was named to the third team and sophomore MB Val Geiger earned honorable mention. It is the first All-America honor for all three individuals.

Gideon put together one of the most impressive and well-rounded individual campaigns in school history, becoming the first Chapman player ever to earn over 300 kills and 400 digs in the same season. And she did so by a wide margin, leading the Panthers with 377 kills and finishing with 461 digs. The second team selection hit .212 and added 21 service aces to help lead Chapman to the second round of the NCAA West Regionals.

The offensive quarterback, Ostrovsky was named to the third team by averaging 11.74 assists per set which still leads all of Division III heading into national championships this weekend. She set a school record with 1,315 assists while playing in all 112 sets this season for Chapman. Ostrovsky also eclipsed the 300 digs mark for the first time in her career and added 20 service aces and 18 blocks.

Meanwhile, Geiger earned honorable mention after providing strong net play for Chapman all season, leading the team in total blocks (57) and ranking second in kills with 352. The sophomore currently ranks No. 24 in Division III in hitting percentage with a .364 mark
