Hot start, impressive finish helps women's volleyball cruise past Caltech

ORANGE, Calif — Women's volleyball took home a big win in sweep fashion over Caltech on Saturday Oct. 8, with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-23.

The Panthers looked sharp all around and the start of the match set the tone for the duration. Chanel Sud started off the game on the service end clinching the first six points, jumping out to a convincing 6-0 lead.

Five straight kills for the Panthers, plus one service ace by Sud; she ended with three, helped the team hit a staggering .375 in the match, the team's highest total of the season.

Julin Kenison continues to lead the offensive attack as she has all season with 11 kills on the night, tying Olivia Sampson with the game-high. Sampson, hit a season-high .385 and continues to improve on the outside as a freshman.

While the entire team impressed, Hannah Callahan, who returned to the middle on Saturday, played tough hitting .750 with six kills on eight attempts.

The Panthers will look to take this momentum into their next matchup on Tuesday when they will travel to La Verne to take on the Leopards.
