Leslie ties career-high in loss

ORANGE, Calif — Women's volleyball showed out against another tough ranked opponent in the No. 24 UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, losing 3-1 in four close sets on Friday, Oct. 21.

After being down 19-16, Chapman went on an electric 7-0 run to take a four-point lead. Leslie collected three of her kills in that span. A Marly Johnson kill and one more from Maddy Dowdall right after, finished off the set win.

Chapman also led most of the way through the first and third sets, leading 19-17 in the first and 18-12 in the third before large Banana Slug runs.

Julin Kenison and Marly Johnson played well on the outside finishing with 13 and nine kills respectively. Defensively, Cat Helgeson was all over the floor scooping up 17 digs, including a spectacular off-the-head dig kill in the third set making the score 23-22 UCSC at the time.

Following the loss, Chapman fell to 6-14 on the season, and remains 4-8 in SCIAC play. UC Santa Cruz moved to 17-4.
