Women's volleyball finishes senior day and season with sweep

ORANGE, Calif — Women's volleyball's senior day festivities were capped off with a convincing 3-0, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 sweep of the Occidental Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Not to outshine the seniors, but Maddy Dowdall had the best game of her Chapman career, finishing with 13 kills in the middle, two blocks, and an .812 hitting percentage. She was a perfect 10-for-10 midway through the third set.

Aside from Dowdall, head coach Mary Cahill let the seniors battle it out in the final game of their career, and they did not disappoint. Cat Helgeson did Cat Helgeson things posting 17 digs into her ledger. That mark puts her at 1,535 digs for her career.

Natalie Wittkow and Kayla Kluemper each played well, posting a combined 12 kills, with Wittkow adding a block assist. Leighton Gagnon and Sophie Bobal, two of the other seniors on the outside tonight, posted solid performances with Gagnon collecting 12 of her own kills, and Bobal with nine digs and three kills.

Speaking of assists, while they aren't of the blocking variety, Jenna Richardson finished out her season with a 20 assist and seven dig performance. She finishes her career just shy of 700 assists with 692 and 247 digs.

The last of the seniors, Kelcie Albano, nearly doubled her career dig total with three on the evening while helping the Panthers win a string of three consecutive points off of her serve in the third set.
