Roy's goal in double-OT downs Gannon

ORANGE, Calif. - Freshman Stephanie Roy's only goal of the game with 1:41 remaining in the second overtime period proved to be the game-winner as the Chapman University women's water polo team defeated visiting Gannon University (Pa.) 11-10 at the Allred Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The goal settled a match that went back-and-forth through four quarters and one overtime frame and featured six lead changes. Neither team ever led by more than two goals.

Chapman (2-3) took a 5-3 lead into halftime, but Gannon (0-1) came right back in the third quarter with three straight goals to take its first lead of the game. Gannon then led 9-7 with two minutes remaining in regulation when senior Sabrina Cook scored two of her career-high nine goals in succession to tie the game at nine and send it into overtime.

Each team exchanged goals in the first overtime period before Roy sealed the win for Chapman in the second overtime.

Sophomore goalie Celia Huling made 15 saves for Chapman and added five steals.
