Chapman snaps skid with 23-goal win over Caltech

ORANGE, Calif. - This one was over before it had even begun. Freshman 2-meter Arielle Worthington scored the Panthers' first two goals within a minute and a half of the opening whistle and the Chapman University women's water polo team cruised to a 24-1 victory over visiting Caltech at the Allred Aquatics Center on Sunday morning.

In fact, Chapman took out the frustrations of an eight-game losing streak following the Beavers' only goal with 2:46 remaining in the first quarter. The Panthers shutout Caltech throughout the rest of the game and scored the final 18 goals of the game, unanswered.

The Panthers defense was impenetrable, with sophomore goalie Celia Huling making 16 saves. Chapman's field defenders also helped out with 21 steals in the game.

Offensively, Chapman (7-16) spread the wealth with seven different players scoring at least three goals each. Worthington led all players with four goals and four assists. Sophomore driver Hannah Thomas had three goals and added three assists.
