Martin, Quincy earn water polo All-SCIAC honors

ORANGE, Calif. – In its first full season as a member of the SCIAC, the Chapman University women's water polo team had two players receive all-conference honors. Senior utility Samantha Martin and freshman utility Alison Quincy earned All-SCIAC honorable mention, leading the Panthers to a 14-15 record and a seventh place finish in the postseason tournament.

Martin, a two-time ACWPC All-American, scored 40 goals in her senior season to bring her career total to 177. The utility was not just a goal scorer for the Panthers as she contributed 21 assists and 27 steals in a well-balanced attack. The San Diego native will graduate this May with her name on the Panthers all-time leader board, ranking third in goals scored and fourth with 113 games played.

As the Panthers top goal-scorer the past two seasons, Martin passed the torch in 2013 to freshman Alison Quincy, who led the team with 42 goals in 28 games played. The utility from San Ramon, Calif. added 13 assists and 35 steals in her impressive debut season.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
