Ford, Gilmore earn water polo All-America honors

ORANGE – Chapman University juniors Riley Ford and Jordan Gilmore have been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) NCAA Division III All-America team for the 2014 season. Each earned honorable mention to the team after helping the Panthers to a No. 8 Division III ranking in the final coaches' poll.

Ford earned All-America honors for the second time in her career, having been named to the second team as a freshman in 2012. The utility player led Chapman with 45 goals this season and 39 earned ejections. She ranked second on the team with 47 steals and was fourth with 24 assists. She ran her career total to 126 goals, needing seven more to crack the top-five in school history.

Meanwhile, Gilmore became just the third goalie in Chapman history to earn All-America honors; the first since Celia Huling in 2009. The junior appeared in 29 games for the Panthers and set a career-high with 243 blocks – fourth-most in a single-season at Chapman. She also earned 61 steals and a goals-against average of 9.98 this year.

Each year, the ACWPC names the top players from all divisions to its All-America teams, including Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards. The ACWPC also sponsors an All-Academic team for the top scholars in the sport every summer.
