Quincy leads Chapman to season sweep over Redlands

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team earned a season sweep over University of Redlands with Wednesday afternoons 12-3 victory at Allred Pool. The Panthers defeated Redlands 16-8 at Redlands, in Chapman's season opener on Sunday, February 1.

The Panthers opened the game on a 3-0 run to take the lead over the Bulldogs. Senior Riley Ford tossed the first goal of the game at the five minute mark, followed by a second goal by junior Kate Avery less than a minute later. Avery also had the final assist of the quarter when junior Alison Quincy scored the third goal for Chapman.

Quincy then scored the only goal of the second quarter for the Panthers to extend Chapman's lead 4-0 and then recorded back-to-back goals in the second half to edge the Panther lead 6-0. Quincy finished the game with a career-high of six goals for Chapman.

Redland's (2-21 overall, 0-2 SCIAC) senior Deandra Van Houten scored back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to put Redlands on the board 12-3 but the pair of goals wasn't enough to catch Chapman's lead.

The Panthers finished the game on a 6-2 run. Ford finished the match with a pair of goals for the Chapman while junior Kate Staskus had a game-high of three assists for the Panthers.

Senior GK Kirsten Spicer kept the Bulldogs scoreless through the first half, tallying eight blocks while allowing just one goal in three quarters.
