Markell dubbed SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif — On Monday, Feb. 13 Kasey Markell was named SCIAC offensive athlete of the week.

Markell was on fire in women's water polo's home opener. She scored eight of the Panthers' 17 goals en route to a last second, 17-16 victory over Westcliff. 

Markell started her scoring burst in the second quarter when she rattled off five goals, four unanswered, helping Chapman jump out to a 9-5 halftime lead. She kept it going in the second half with one goal straight out of the gates, and two huge goals in the fourth.

She and women's water polo return to action on Friday to take on Concordia (Irvine) at 7 p.m. at Allred Aquatics Center.
