Jourdain, Berry pace Panthers at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. – Against a Division I-heavy field at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday, freshmen Nicole Jourdain and Spencer Berry paced the Chapman University women's and men's cross country team, respectively, while nine runners competed overall.

Running in the first 6k race of the season, Jourdain finished in 268th with an overall time of 26:45 which was a 7:11 minute per mile pace. Close behind Jourdain was sophomore Kelly Kneis in 270th with a time of 26:59 while freshmen Lisa Peterkin had a time of 27:44 and sophomore Paulette Garcia finished with a time of 28:50.

Stanford's Kathy Kroeger and Aisling Cuffe were the top women's runners, finishing in first and second with times of 20:07 and 20:12, respectively. The Cardinal also won the overall team event with three runners in the top-five and five runners in the top-10.

Berry was the top runner for the men's team with a time of 27:51 in 212th place for a pace of 5:36 per mile. While Berry was the top runner for the men, his time was nearly 90 seconds off of his top time this season in the 8k which is 27:26.9. Freshman Chad King had a season-best time of 28:17 for the Panthers.

Stanford's men also won the overall event with four runners in the top-5 led by Chris Derrick who finished with a time of 23:15.
