King and Jourdain lead the way for Chapman at Pomona-Pitzer Invite
CLAREMONT, Calif. – A total of six runners participated for the Chapman University cross country team over the weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, with a pair of freshmen in Chad King and Nicole Jourdain leading the men's and women's team, respectively.
For the first time this season, King paced the men's team in the 8k with a time of 28:26.2 which was just over nine seconds off his career-best time of 28:17 set the previous week at the Stanford Invitational. King finished in 119th which was several minutes off the pace set by Sam Hyams, an unattached runner who won the event with a time of 24:46. Cal State San Marcos won the team event with three runners finishing in the top 10.
Junior Zac Campbell finished 13 spots behind King with a time of 28:54.2 followed by junior Angel Flores at 30:24.2 and sophomore Kevin Tatlock at 32:13.7.
Only two runners competed for Chapman on the women's side led by Jourdain who finished in167th. Sophomore Paulette Garcia was the other Chapman runner and she had her best time of the season in the 6k finishing with a time of 27:50.6. Annie Lydens of host Pomona-Pitzer won the event with a time of 21:03.9 while Cal State San Marcos won the women's overall event as well with four runners in the top 10.
