Reid crushes old PR to place in top-50 at West Regionals

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. – A strong effort and another personal record by Chapman University freshman runner Chris Reid was good enough for 43rd place as six Panthers competed at the NCAA Division III West Region Championships for men's and women's cross country on Saturday at the Oak Knoll Golf Course, hosted by Willamette University (Ore.).

Reid crushed his previous best in the 8K with a finish of 25:57.9 – more than a full minute better than his time of 27:30.3 at Prado Park for the SCIAC Championships two weeks ago. Reid placed 43rd out of 120 runners in the men's race and was 29th amongst competitors from SCIAC schools. The SCIAC earned the top five finishes in the race, paced by first-place finisher Zorg Loustalet from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Fellow freshmen Michael Chan (28:04.5) and Josh Nudelman (29:51.8) placed 114th and 120th overall for Chapman, both personal bests. Nudelman cracked the 30-minute mark for the first time in his career.

The Chapman women were led by sophomore Emily Ralston who ran a career-best 24:26.2 in the 6K. The sophomore has been the Panthers' top finisher in all six races she has competed in this season.

Another sophomore Charlie Truax earned a career-low finish of 25:21.4 in the event, placing 117th out of 125 runners. Sophomore Nicole Jourdain placed 121st overall with a season-best time of 27:23.3.
