Wanous places 11th at SCIAC Championships

CHINO, Calif. – Chapman University freshman runner Sara Wanous placed 11th at the SCIAC Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Prado Park, pacing the Panthers to a seventh-place team finish in the conference standings. The rookie finished the 6-kilometers at 24:05.56 and was just 9 seconds off the top-10 pace and less than 1:03 behind first-place finisher Melissa Skiba from Cal Lutheran.

Meanwhile, Chapman sophomore Chris Reid placed 15th overall in the Men's Championships with a time of 26:51.16 in the 8 kilometers. He was 39 seconds faster than his time on the same course last year, which placed him 29th in the field in 2012.

Another freshman, Cathryne Ramirez placed 33rd overall with a time of 25:16.68 for the women, followed by sophomore Courtney Pascual (65th; 27:06.55) and freshman Jessica Selby (66th; 27:06.71).

Chapman will next compete in the Division III West Regionals in Claremont on Nov. 16.
