Cross country notches two All-Region awards with top-20 finishes

CLAREMONT, Calif. – A pair of top-20 finishes for the Chapman University men's and women's cross country team gave the Panthers their first All-West Region honorees since 2005. Sophomore Chris Reid placed 18th overall in the men's 8-kilometers with a school record time of 25:55.8. Freshman Sara Wanous also placed 18th in the women's 6-kilometers, just 8 seconds shy of her own school record with a time of 23:04.4.

Wanous becomes the first All-Region runner in Chapman's Division III history (since 1994), while Reid is the first All-Region award winner since Peter Silverman placed 16th at the 2005 West Regionals. Both runners finished just off the pace of qualifying for the Division III national championships.

The Chapman women placed 17th overall with an average time of 25:25.15 and ahead of three schools: Pacific (Ore.), Caltech and Mills.

Panthers' freshman Charles Thimesch set a personal record in the 8k with a time of 27:46.4, placing 88th overall. On the women's side, freshman Cathryne Ramirez placed 89th with a time of 24:57.9 in the 6k followed by freshman Jessica Selby who set a PR with a finish of 25:24.8.
