Mirro takes 11th at Regionals, hits new personal record

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Division III West Region Championships this morning, junior Maddie Mirro took 11th overall in the 6k and posted a new personal best.

Mirro beat her SCIAC Championship time of 22:48.6 and ran a 22:35.8, the second fastest in school history and a new personal record. She is expected to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships after the team at large and individual bids are announced early next week.

The women's team took 12th overall while the men's team secured 15th in the 8k. Sophomore Zach Leith secured the best time for the men and finished 44th with a 26:26.0, junior Anthony Hart was not far behind and took 52nd with a 26:43.5. Junior David Anderson took 90th with a 27:26.9 and was trailed by Landon Davies who took 101st, Aiden White who took 113th and Gill Bothwell who secured 138th.

Freshman Annika Carlson came in 38th after Mirro with a 23:33.8 while classmate Tasha Kotz took 72nd and ran a 24.30.2. Sophomore Kayla Almeida took 87th with a 24:59.0 and was trailed by Jordan Diaz who took 96th, Grace Coleman at 102nd and Summer Solomon who finished 122nd.

The NCAA Division III Championship meet will take place on Sat., Nov. 20th at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The men's race is slated to begin at 11 a.m. ET while the women's race is slated for 12 p.m. ET.
