Cal Baptist and Biola top Chapman in double dual meet

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's swim team competed at a double dual meet against host Cal Baptist and Biola on Saturday in Riverside, losing to both squads. Cal Baptist defeated Chapman 237-51 while Biola beat Chapman 166-120.

The top two events of the day for Chapman swimmers came in the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle, with junior Samantha McLaughlin and sophomore Danielle Lombardi each placing second in their respective heats. McLaughlin swam the 100 in 1:11.91 which was just over seven tenths of a second off the pace set by Cal Baptist's Hannah Stipek. McLaughlin was also just over two second off the school-record pace.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of McLaughlin, freshmen Alex Carubis and Kassy Parker along with junior Amanda Morris placed fourth with a time of 1:57.54 which was less than three seconds off the school record time of 1:54.38 set in 2009.

In the 50 and 100 free, freshman Kirsten Spicer was the Panthers' top finisher with times of 26.62 and 59.47, respectively.
