Kluck, Crewe on the podium plus more records downed

LA MIRADA, Calif. – Two Panthers reached the podium and three more school records fell on day three of the SCIAC Swimming Championships. The women's team remains comfortable in third and the men's team jumped up to seventh in the team standings.

William Crewe and Meghan Kluck both reached the podium in a successful day for the Chapman swimming teams. Crewe won his third All-SCIAC honor in the 100 back, swimming a 51.43 in the 100 back to take third. Kluck made the podium for the second time this meet, taking third in the 100 breast.

Kluck swam a 1:04.10 in prelims to break the school record she set earlier in the season. Zach Waddell continued his assault on the men's record book, breaking his third school record this season in the 400 IM. He broke the record in prelims and then dropped two and a half more second to take 11th with a 4:05.96.

The third record to fall came at the end of the night when the women's 400 medley relay team took fifth with a time of 3:57.71. Marah Kane, Kluck, Kiana Tanizaki-Hudson and Avery Hall combined to break the Chapman record. All four also placed in their individual events. Kane took 13th in the 100 back, Kluck was Alll-SCIAC in the breaststroke, Tanizaki-Hudson finished 12th in the 100 fly and Hall won the consolation final in the 200 free.

Kane was joined by Inez Amer in the 100 back consolation final in 17th. Hall led a trio of Panthers in the consolation finals in the 200 free with Riley Brownfield taking 14th and Bianca Bayer taking 14th. Tanizaki-Hudson was joined by her sister, Kealani Tanizaki-Hudson, in the 100 fly with Kealani taking 16th.

The men's team also scored some points with Cole Kershner taking 15th in the 100 fly. In the 100 back, Bryce Grover took 12th and Colton Lane took 13th to make the event one of the Chapman men's highest scoring individual event of the meet. Michael Garza also 17th in the 100 breast and Brandon Leung was 14th in the 400 IM.

The Panthers finish off the season tomorrow in the final day of the SCIAC Championships in La Mirada, Calif.
