All-American Omilian makes Chapman history

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Reid Omilian finished his fantastic freshman season as a Second Team All-American after placing 13th on the 3-meter board on Saturday. Omilian took 18th on the 1-meter board earlier in the week.

On both boards, Omilian was knocking on the door of the consolation finals (top-16) throughout the 11 rounds of the diving competitions. He took 18th on the 1-meter board after finishing with a 420.20 – just six points away from taking 16th.

He surged ahead on the 3-meter board on Saturday and turned in a score of 432.15 to place 14th in the preliminaries and qualify for the consolation final. In finals, he improved his score to 443.15 to jump one spot into 13th and official claim All-American status.

Omilian is the first member of the Chapman University Low Tops swimming & diving program to score at the national meet and the first diver from either the low tops or high tops to score. He is just the third Panther from either program to compete at the national championships and the first freshman to do so.
