McMillan to new heights at Oxy Distance Carnival

EAGLE ROCK, Calif. – Jesse McMillan nearly broke a school record and a men's relay team brought back an event win at the Oxy Distance Carnival on Saturday.

McMillan set a personal-best in the pole vault and finished in second place overall when he cleared 4.45 meters on his first attempt. McMillan cleared four heights on four attempts and was going for the school record at 4.55 meters. He wasn't able to clear the school record height but did clear the third-highest mark in the SCIAC this year.

Anthony Hart did not slow down after last week's PR, lowering his steeplechase time again to take fifth overall. He ran a 9:36.78, which ranks seventh in the SCIAC this year.

Chris Dyckman took second in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.84 meters (150-feet, 5-inches) and the men's 4x400m relay took first. Donovan Wilson, Ewen Shen, Moises Brito and Nate Wong combined for a winning time 3:24.71 – two-and-a-half seconds faster than the next team and the third-fastest time in the SCIAC this year. Wilson also took eighth individually in the 400m dash with a 50.11.

The women's team was led by a fifth place finish from Adva Shilon in the pole vault when she cleared 2.98 meters. Alli Kremer took ninth in the 400m dash at 1:00.48.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Carly Trent, Kremer, Proud Kitnitchiva and Kaylee Smith took fifth overall with a 4:12.27.

The Panthers head to the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invite on Saturday for their next meet.
