McMillan breaks school record

ORANGE, Calif. – Jesse McMillan broke a school record set in 1964 to lead the Chapman University track & field teams at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational on Saturday.

McMillan cleared 4.71 meters (15-feet, 5.5-inches) to demolish the previous Chapman record of 4.49 meters set in 1964 by Bob Maimbourg. He placed second overall and currently ranks fifth in the NCAA Division III.

The Panthers had several other top-10 finishes at the meet. Maddie Mirro took sixth overall in the 800m run, clocking in with a 2:18.66. Allie Kremer took ninth in the 400m dash with a 59.87 and Maija Girardi made her season debut with a throw of 34.80 meters (114-feet, 2-inches) to place seventh.

Both 4x400m relay teams finished in the top five with the men's team taking third with a time of 3:24.81. The women's team placed fourth with a time of 4:10.52.

Donovan Wilson took eighth in the 110m dash, finishing at 11.09. In the 100m hurdles, Michael Crumby took ninth with a 15.87.

Chapman heads to the Titus & Ely Meet next week at Concordia University-Irvine.
