Track & Field posts record breaking performance in final day

WHITTIER, Calif — Track & Field finished up at the SCIAC Championships at Whittier college Sunday, May 1.

The Panthers ended the day with the most medal winners in program history in a SCIAC Championship where all nine teams participated in the events.

A pair of school records were broken on the day. The women's 4x 100 relay team, made up of Khrya Stiner, Zoe Zurasky, Kaylee Smith, and Allison Kremer, broke the school record they set on Apr. 16 by over .1 seconds at 49.17 in the Championship race. That was good enough for third on the day. The other record came from Alec Desuasido, who had the longest men's triple jump in school history. His 13.04 meter jump was good enough for second place.

Kremer and Zurasky took home a pair of medals. While the two were a part of the 4 x 100 relay medal, Kremer placed third in the women's 400 meter dash, and Zurasky competed in the 200 and 100 meter finals.

The other women's relay team, the 4 x 400, consisting of Kremer, Kayla Almeida, Carly Trent and Smith placed third.

As for the throwers, Maija Girardi took home third place in the women's javelin.

Other participants in the final day included Almeida, who placed fifth in the women's 800 meter run and Trent, who placed eighth in the women's 400 meter dash.
