Chapman freshman breaks school record in hurdles

LA JOLLA, Calif. –  Freshman Peyton Collins broke the Chapman University record in the 400 meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 1:08.07 as the Panthers wrapped up the track and field season at the U.C. San Diego Triton Invitational meet. Collins’ placed second in her heat and bested the previous Chapman mark of 1:08.12. The 14-year old record was set by Christy Carvin in 1996.

Three other Chapman runners finished the season with personal bests at UCSD. Freshman Jessie Drews earned fourth place in her heat in the 800 meters with a time of 2:39.66.

Junior Tori Rose and sophomore Kate Emery finished one-two in their heat in the 200 meters, both with personal bests. Rose’s time of 28.76 was good for first in her section, while Emery finished with a time of 29.23.
