Women's water polo readies for SCIAC Tournament
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team heads into the SCIAC Tournament this weekend, hosted by the University of Redlands. The Panthers (9-18, 4-4 SCIAC) matched their SCIAC record from last season to pull into a two-way tie for fourth place with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Due to the two-way tiebreaker, the Panthers enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed. Chapman will face fourth seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7 p.m. at Redlands. The winner will the face the winner of top-seeded Whittier and the play-in match winner of game one in Saturday's semifinal.
SCIAC leading scorer Alison Quincy will lead the Panthers into the tournament. She's scored 76 goals this season, including back-to-back multiple goal matches. Sophomore Kerry Goodspeed will defend the net averaging five blocks a contest alongside senior Kate Avery who is averaging three steals a match.
