    Chapman University head football coach Bob Owens has been selected one of 13 coaches across all NCAA Divisions to earn the Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation’s Salute to Excellence Award, following the Panthers’ 2014 SCIAC championship season and NCAA appearance.

    Chapman University celebrated another outstanding year in athletics with its annual Jog-a-thon and Sports Appreciation Day at Wilson Field on Friday afternoon. In addition to celebrating the University’s first-ever SCIAC football and men’s basketball (co) championships and recognizing retiring Director of Athletics David Currey, the Panthers honored five seniors with the Department of Athletics’ annual awards including co-Male Athletes of the Year for the first time in Chapman history.
  • Fall athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

    Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport for the fall season. Leading the way for the Panthers was football, which garnered 15 honorees. In all, there were 49 Panthers recognized which ranked third among the nine SCIAC institutions.

    Chapman University football players Anthony Ezeakunne and Osayande Aikhionbare have been selected to participate in the 5th Annual National Bowl Game to be played at Sunday, Dec. 7 at Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium in Miami, Florida on the campus of Florida International University.

    Coming off the program’s best season and an undefeated conference run, the Chapman University football team saw senior QB Michael Lahey win Offensive Athlete of the Year, Head Coach Bob Owens named Coach of the Year, and 14 players in all earn All-Conference honors from the SCIAC.
  • Football season ends in 55-24 playoff loss to No. 10 Linfield

    A magical run, highlighted by Chapman University’s first SCIAC championship and NCAA Division III playoff berth, came to an end at Linfield College on Saturday afternoon. The No. 10-ranked Wildcats handed the No. 17-ranked Panthers a 55-24 defeat in the first round of the NCAA Championships at Maxwell Field.

The Panthers defeated host University of Redlands for the first time since 2008, by a final score of a 31-27 and remain undefeated in conference play.

    A big third quarter by both the defense and the offense gave the Chapman University football team its first win of the season in a 49-34 victory over host Whitworth University (Wash.) on Saturday afternoon at the Pine Bowl. The Panthers converted three Whitworth turnovers into touchdowns within the first 8:02 of the third quarter, quickly turning an eight-point halftime lead into a 29-point advantage.
