With a winning season hanging in the balance, the Chapman University men’s basketball team used a solid second half to defeat visiting Cal Lutheran University 73-54 at the Hutton Sports Center in SCIAC action on Tuesday night, brining the 2012-13 season to a close.

Whittier hands Chapman fourth straight loss in OT

Two teams fighting for their postseason lives made for a thriller on Saturday night at the Hutton Sports Center. Unfortunately for the Chapman University men’s basketball team it was the opponents who were left standing as visiting Whittier College came from behind to hand the Panthers a devastating 61-58 loss in overtime.

Sagehens make quick work of the Chapman men

In a game that took less than an hour and a half to complete, the visiting Pomona-Pitzer Colleges men’s basketball team handed Chapman University a 51-44 defeat at the Hutton Center on Wednesday night. The loss was Chapman’s season-high third straight and sent the Panthers into a three-way tie for the fourth and final SCIAC Tournament spot with four games remaining.

Offensive struggles continue as Chapman men lose to La Verne

The Chapman University men’s basketball team had a golden opportunity slip away on Saturday night as the Panthers fell to visiting University of La Verne 58-47 at Hutton Center, dropping out of a three-way tie for third place and into fourth with just five games remaining.

Panthers hold on late to defeat conference-leading Redlands

The Chapman University men’s basketball team held on in a nail-biter Wednesday night at the Hutton Sports Center to secure its biggest victory of the season, a 74-69 win over a Redlands squad with a previously unblemished conference record. The win moves the Panthers record above .500 (8-7) as they take sole possession of fourth place in the SCIAC with a 3-3 conference mark.

Young leads Chapman in final two non-conference games

The Chapman University men’s basketball team ended a stretch of non-conference games with two wins during a two-day New Year’s Eve tournament at the Hutton Sports Center. The Panthers defeated familiar opponent UC Santa Cruz 75-50 on Sunday evening before finishing their last non-conference game of the season with a 62-48 win over Colorado College.

Intercounty rival Vanguard bests Chapman 67-59

Losing at home has not been common for the Chapman University men’s basketball team, but it happened on Saturday night as the Panthers fell to intercounty rival Vanguard University 67-59 at the Hutton Sports Center. Chapman (3-3) entered the game having won 27 out of 29 on its home floor and the loss was its first at home this season.
